The problem of this research is " Do the math problem solving ability of students to the application of cooperative learning type Group Investigation better than math problem solving skills without the application of cooperative -type Group Investigation ? he purpose of this study is to look at mathematical problem solving ability of students to the application of cooperative learning type Group Investigation better than math problem solving skills without the application of cooperative learning type Group Investigation . This research is a quasi- experimental design was Randomized Control Group Only Design. Solok enrolled in the academic year 2015/2016 . How pengampilan samples was done by purposive sampling technique . The sample in this research is class VIII D as a class experiment with the number of students 42 and VIII C as the control class with the number of students 41 people . The data analysis technique used is the equation of the two averages z test . From the calculation, and ztabel zhitung = 1.74 = 1.67 indicates that zhitung > ztabel hypothesis HI is accepted at 95% confidence level . It can be concluded that the mathematical problem solving ability of students to the application of cooperative learning type Group Investigation better than math problem solving skills without the application of Cooperative Learning type Group Investigation in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Kota Solok .
